About
About Hanna
I'm Hanna D. Clements — creative, chemist, and chronic observer of the world around me.
I grew up in a tiny town in North Central Washington, where plenty of free time and zero social pressure meant I got interested in obscure things early. I suppose that led me to study peptide chemistry at Gonzaga University. Then more chemistry at the University of Utah, where I was drawn to the desert and the intellectual challenge in equal measure. Now I'm based in coastal British Columbia, learning from the temperate rainforest and ocean through climbing, paddling, and careful observation — all of which feed into my creative practice.
I'm someone who gets invested in understanding how things work, whether that's a chemical reaction, a textile technique, or a fermentation process. Sharing what I've learned is something I find genuinely fun, which is exactly how Hanna's Happenings came to exist.
Current interests:
- Fiber arts — sewing, quilting, crocheting, mending, beaded embroidery, upcycling
- Food science, baking, and cooking
- Rock climbing, skiing, paddling, biking, and other outdoor pursuits

What is Hanna's Happenings?
Hanna's Happenings is a monthly personal newsletter. Each issue follows a project or theme — sometimes a craft, sometimes a season, sometimes an idea I can't stop thinking about. I started my newsletter in October 2025. New issues are released on the last day of the month.
